Got questions? Look here for answers!

What are the Shiny Little Stars DC hours?

Shiny Little Stars Daycare Center is open daily, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (5:30 PM pick-up). You will have the flexibility to determine your child's care schedule within this window based on the care options you select in your contract.

What if I am late for a drop-off or a pick-up time?

If you are running late, please use your Child Pilot app to message the teachers, letting us know about your situation, and when we can expect you for a drop-off or pick-up.

My family is going on vacation! What is your notification policy?

If your child is expected to have an absence from their regular schedule, please try to inform us with 2 weeks advanced notice. At Shiny Little Stars DC, we ensure there are never more than 4 children per teacher and want to ensure we are always properly staffed to keep all our Little Stars shiny.

What should I do if my child is sick?

Children should remain home if they have experienced any of the following symptoms for 48 hours before school time.

- Fever over 99°F (37°C).
- Cough.
- Shortness of breath.
- Loss of taste or smell.
- Sore throat.
- Stuffy or runny nose.
- Allergies related to symptoms such as watery eyes, sneezing, among others.
- Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and upset stomach.
- Rash or infection of the skin or any type of communicable disease.
- Eye infection.
- After vaccinations (12 hours).

Important Notes:

1) If you administer medication before sending a child to our care facility, you must tell us the type of medication and why it was given.
2) If the child is unable to attend the care facility without medication, they should not be present around other children or facility staff.
3) In case of any illness the days that the child is unable to attend our program due to the above will be charged as if care were provided.
4) If a child becomes sick while at the daycare, parents/guardians will be notified immediately at the emergency contact number provided. If it cannot be reached at the emergency contact number provided, the next person designated on the child’s emergency contact form will be contacted.
5) Parents/guardians must come and pick up their sick child immediately or plan with someone that can pick the child up. The maximum estimate for picking up children due to an emergency call is 1 hour after being contacted. Failure to pick up the child during this time will result in an additional fee of $100.00 per hour.
6) The child cannot re-enter the daycare until all signs of sickness and/or fever are gone (without the aid of fever reducing medications).

If my child is absent for any reason, do I still need to pay for the missed time?

To ensure Shiny Little Stars Daycare Center can remain operational for the daily care needs of our Stars, we need to ensure we always have adequate staff on hand. This means covering employment expenses as well as covering the costs of daily operations. Just as with other similar businesses, we must charge the consistent rate as agreed upon in your contract, regardless of any absences that may occur. This is also true for advanced notices and holidays.

What are your recognized holidays you will be closed for during the year?

The following paid holidays will be observed, and the daycare will be closed.

- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Presidents’ Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- International Workers’ Day
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday
- Christmas and the day before and after
- New Year’s Eve and the day after

Do you accept subsidy programs for daycare payment?

Yes we do. As the parent/guardian, you are still responsible for the cost of daycare in the event your subsidy has not made a payment yet. You are also responsible for covering the difference in price between our rates and the coverage your subsidy is providing.

When are childcare payments due?

Paydays correspond to the first 3 days of each month. For each day of delay, you will be charged a fee corresponding to %10 of your monthly fee payable.

Other Notes:

- Payments per day or per hour must be paid at the time of dropping the child at the care center. In the case of exceeding the scheduled time, the difference in payment must be made at the time of picking up the child.
- Annual Registration: A non-refundable fee of $20.00 must be paid for each child at the time of signing this contract. If a child leaves daycare for any reason and decides to re-enroll, a new enrollment fee is required.
- Returned Check Fee: A $35 fee will be charged for each check not cleared by the bank. Applicable to all payments to the supplier.

What supplies should I provide for my child?

To adequately care for the unique needs of your child, we do ask that parents supply their child with certainly items depending on their typically program experience:

BABY SUPPLIES

- It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide the items needed for babies/toddlers that wear diapers including diapers, diaper rash cream, wipes, lotion, etc.
- Parents/guardians of diaper-wearing babies or toddlers must provide an extra set of season-appropriate clothing (or two).
- When the diaper supply is getting low, the parent will be notified that it is time to bring in more. This is a convenient way to keep a baby supplied, without having to pack and grab a diaper bag every morning.
- The baby’s name will be written on these items and only used for that specific baby.
- Parents are responsible for providing all infant formula, bottles, bottled breastmilk, and baby food for babies under the age of 12 months. Parents can either send a one-day supply of formula, or can send a large can of powdered formula, labeled with your baby’s name.
- Bottled breastmilk and baby food must be sent to the day care daily, due to limited storage space.

KIDS SUPPLIES

Parent will be responsible for providing one backpack per child with their respective supplies. The backpack must be identified with the child’s name and must contain the following on the inside:

- Pull-Ups (In case of use)
- Baby Wipes (In case of need)
- An extra set of season-appropriate clothing
- Sippy Cup or a bottle for the water
- Lunchbox with their respective daily lunch
- Crib Size Sheets
- Blanket

Notes:

- Sheets would be preferable white color and it must be stored in a clear Zip-Bag identified with the child’s name.
- To promote children's independence please make sure to choose clothing and shoes that the child can easily remove.
- Children are not allowed to bring smart tablets, smart watches, cell phones, or toys from home to care.

Will I be able to get updates on my child throughout the day?

Yes! We use an app called Child Pilot that will allow regular communication between you and your child's teacher during the day. Here, you can send direct messages to ask questions, receive important updates regarding your child's activities, and even photos and videos so you can see your child's joy in learning!

Will my child's photos be used for daycare business purposes?

Shiny Little Stars Daycare Center does like to keep our website and other marketing content up-to-date with the latest happenings. We often share updates regarding the fun we have each day. However, we will only include photos/videos of your child (specifically their face) if we have your written consent. Please be sure to review this section of your parent contract carefully. Please inform us immediately if you need to make a change to the initial consent indication made on your initial contract and annual follow-up.

What does the enrollment process look like?

Before your child enters our care, the following forms must be reviewed:

- Parent/Provider Contract
- Parent Handbook
- Child’s/Baby’s Daily Schedule
- Admission Agreement and Health Assessment
- All forms are subject to yearly renewal and must be kept up to date by December 5th. Each year we will have to renew and refresh all your paperwork and all forms.

Please give us written notice that you will no longer need our services and/or a two week payment in case your child will be removed immediately.

Where can I get a copy of the Contract and Parent Handbook?
